Known issue · Flywheel ring gear stripped during the first storm of year three on more than one owner's unit, plus drive-engagement failures from clutch-cable wearHome Depot reviews

Built from 4 sources: 2 owner threads, 1 hands-on review, 1 spec page.

Take it home if

  • Auto-Turn steering makes a 245 lb machine easy to swing at the end of a pass
  • 254 cc AX engine with a 21 in intake eats plow berms
  • Five-year gear case warranty on top of three years for the unit

Walk past if

  • Amazon carries it through third-party sellers above MSRP; an Ariens dealer is usually the cheaper buy
  • Flywheel ring-gear failures show up in owner reviews around year three
  • Skid shoes and scraper bar wear fast on gravel
